Board of Directors – Vice Chair Gwen O’Connell
Gwen O’Connell is a dedicated community leader in Pitt Meadows, with a rich history of public service spanning over two decades. First elected to Pitt Meadows Council in 1993, she served until 2005 and returned to the council in 2008, continuing her commitment to the community until 2014. After another brief hiatus, she was re-elected in 2018 and 2022, demonstrating her enduring dedication to local governance.
Beyond her council work, Gwen has devoted 16 years to supporting seniors at various stages of their lives, showcasing her passion for community care. She currently serves on the board of directors for the Friends in Need Food Bank and has been actively involved in numerous local organizations, including Ridge Meadows Hospice and the Pitt Meadows Lions Club. Notably, she has successfully chaired a community food drive for the past four years.
Gwen has been married to her husband, Paul, for 51 years and is a proud mother of two. Following the loss of their daughter Kristina in 2002, she cherishes the time spent with her grandchildren and great-granddaughter. Gwen’s extensive experience and compassionate approach make her a vital asset to the Maple Ridge Pitt Meadows Community Services Board, where she continues to advocate for the well-being of all community members.
