JOB TITLE: Employment Specialist

Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows Community Services is currently looking for an Employment Specialist who supports youth in achieving their education and employment goals through a strengths-based, person-centered approach. This role provides personalized career guidance, skills development, and barrier reduction, ensuring that each client’s unique strengths, interests, and abilities are recognized and actively fostered. The Employment Specialist collaborates with clients, employers, and community partners to create inclusive and accessible opportunities, facilitate workplace and educational accommodations, and promote equity, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of service delivery. By maintaining consistent, ongoing support and engagement, the Employment Specialist empowers youth to successfully transition into the labour market and participate in their communities.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
• Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify each client’s strengths, interests, abilities, and aspirations.
• Supports youth in achieving employment and post-secondary education goals, including retention, re-engagement, and successful transitions into training, college, university, trades, and adult learning programs.
• Use motivational interviewing and strengths-based techniques to empower clients and build self-confidence.
• Partner with clients to co-create Employment Action Plans that reflect their goals, strengths, and lived experiences.
• Regularly review and adjust plans in response to client progress, feedback, and changing circumstances.
• Support youth to access, transition into, and remain engaged in post-secondary education, training, and trades programs.
• Assist youth with navigating applications, registration, course planning, funding, and program transitions.
• Collaborate with post-secondary institutions, training providers, and education partners to reduce barriers and support retention.
• Advocate for academic and training accommodations related to mental health, disability, or life circumstances.
• Facilitate workshops and one-on-one sessions on pre-employment skills, job search strategies, resume and cover letter writing, and interview preparation.
• Provide access to resources and opportunities for skill-building, including volunteer placements, job shadowing, and training programs.
• Build and maintain relationships with local employers, community agencies, and service providers to expand opportunities for youth.
• Promote EDI principles in all outreach and partnership activities, ensuring diverse representation and inclusive practices.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Training and Experience
• Diploma in a related human/social service field
• Minimum one (1) year recent related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
• Experience in career development, client outreach, group facilitation, individual employment/career counseling, and portfolio development
• Experience supporting youth with mental health and substance use challenges
Additional Requirements:
• Clear Criminal Record Check is required.
• Current First Aid and CPR Certificate.
• Valid and unrestricted Class 5 BC Driver’s License with access to a safe and reliable vehicle.
• Acceptable Driver’s Abstract (provided annually).
• Position requires Union Membership.

POSITION: Supervisor
LOCATION: Maple Ridge, BC (regional position with travel throughout the Fraser Health Region)
Supervisor – Regional Youth Peer Support Program
This position will lead all aspects of staff oversight, including recruitment, onboarding, training, supervision, and performance development of Youth Peer Support Workers. In collaboration with Program Manager, Fraser Health clinicians and community partners, the Supervisor will support the effective integration of peer support workers into interdisciplinary teams while fostering a supportive, inclusive, and growth-oriented work environment.
This role provides leadership to a regional team of Youth Peer Support Workers based across multiple Fraser Health, Foundry, and community locations and requires regular travel throughout the Fraser Health Region to attend meetings, meet with staff, and collaborate with system partners.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Lead recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and supervision of Youth Peer Support Workers using inclusive and equitable practices
• Provide ongoing staff supervision, coaching, performance feedback, and support for wellness and ethical use of lived experience
• Foster a collaborative, reflective, and accountable team culture that prioritizes learning and youth voice
• Ensure program delivery meets funder requirements, organizational standards, and best practices in youth peer support
• Monitor program quality, outcomes, and performance using data, feedback, and an equity-focused lens
• Oversee risk management, incident response, and documentation to ensure safety, transparency, and accountability
• Coordinate referrals, service access, and collaboration with Fraser Health, ICY teams, and other system partners
• Promote equity, inclusion, and accessibility by addressing systemic barriers and ensuring culturally safe services
• Support staff training, professional development, and capacity building aligned with trauma-informed and anti-oppressive practices
• Ensure compliance with policies, contribute to program planning and evaluation, and represent the organization in community and system settings
QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Training and Experience
• A degree in a related human or social services field or an equivalent combination of education, leadership experience, and relevant professional practice
• Minimum three years of experience in supervision and program coordination within youth services, mental health, and/or substance use systems
• Experience working in collaborative health or integrated care settings

POSITION: Mental Health Facilitator
LOCATION: Maple Ridge, BC
Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows Community Services is currently looking for a temporary full-time Mental Health Facilitator within our Mental Health Services – The Clubhouse program. In this position, the Mental Health Facilitator will have the opportunity to plan, prepare and facilitate various programs within the Club setting that empowers members and promotes autonomy in their recovery journey. This includes but is not limited to developing programs that promote vocational/life skills and social/leisure activities.
The Clubhouse program is a voluntary referral-based program for adults 18+ living with a mental health issue in Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows. The clubhouse operates under a psychosocial rehabilitation model that supports members to learn and adopt healthy coping strategies, connect with their peers and increase involvement in their community through resource building.
The club is a safe and non-judgemental space for individuals to navigate their mental health challenges and discover wellness tools on their journey to recovery and mental wellness. The club creates opportunities for people to develop skills, build confidence and improve quality of life in areas of personal life, pre-employment, employment, education and leisure.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Training and Experience
• 2-year diploma in a mental health discipline.
• Minimum 2 years experience working with persons who have chronic and persistent mental health issues.
• Experience in group facilitation: recreation, life skills, vocational.
• A strong understanding of psychosocial rehabilitation and a certificate would be an asset.
Additional Requirements:
• Clear Criminal Record Check is required.
• Current First Aid and CPR Certificate.
• Valid and unrestricted Class 5 BC Driver’s License with access to a safe and reliable vehicle.

• Proficient with current office technology, familiarity with case management programs and documentation models such as SOAP
• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the socio-economic and cultural background of the service population.
• Must be able to efficiently and effectively manage work time, energy and stress levels while maintaining healthy client boundaries
Shift/Schedule/Hours per week: 35 hours per week; generally, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, with occasional evening shifts as required throughout the month, (12:00 pm – 7:00 pm) This is a temporary full-time position effective until the return of incumbent.

Wage/Salary: $27.54/hour
