Community Services Family Place

Family Place believes that all families have the potential to grow and change, and that all children have the right to equal "best starts."  All families need and are entitled to supports and resources that will enhance the capacities of parents and foster the optimal development of children.  Family Place programs are sensitive to the diversity of family types, and the multicultural aspects of our communities.

Are you looking for a place to meet new friends?  Perhaps you just need to talk.  come and share the joys and challenges of parenting!  Watch your children have fun and grow in an enriched setting.

Parents, grandparents or legal guardians of children under the age of six, residing in the communities of Maple Ridge or Pitt Meadows can participate in activities and programs offered at Family Place:

Service Philosophy

Family Place is free of stereotypes, promotes multiculturalism and welcomes all who wish to celebrate family life.  Adult participants can find mutual support and friendship, as well as programs to enhance family life and valuable community information, while their children play in a safe, enriched environment.

Children's Programs

We believe children are very important.  The staff create a safe and nurturing environment where children can explore their surroundings.  Program staff provide a variety of physical, social, emotional, intellectual and creative activities.

Program Descriptions

A Playce For Us

Parents are encouraged to participate in the "Parent Talks," during the Playce For Us program.  These are friendly informative discussions on specific topics.  Program staff or presenters from the community promote positive parenting, personal growth, networking and support in a relaxed, supportive atmosphere.  Children are offered a safe, nurturing child minding environment.

Parents & Babes

A program for parents with babies; newborn to twelve months of age. Enjoy some adult conversation - meet other parents, talk to our skilled staff and learn about community resources. Enjoy a morning in our fun-filled playroom and learn some new songs circle time.

Parents & Toddlers

Meet with other parents while your children meet other children and play with toys in our fabulous playroom! Join us in singing and movement activities, art projects, and more; talk to our skilled staff and learn about community resources.

Parent & Tot

This is an opportunity for parents to enjoy a positive one-on-one time with their children.  The program is designed to encourage the participation and interaction between parent and child.  Staff are available to offer support, and to be positive role models.

Toddler Rhyme Time

Parents of children between the ages of birth to 36 months will enjoy a lively and interactive facilitated program of stories, songs, music and movement.

Child Minding

Available for children who have reached the walking stage, we offer a supervised children's program with a variety of art, story time and play activities.

Program Expectations

Parents and children will have the opportunity to interact with their peers through social-supportive participation in programs.

Dress for fun!  We encourage children to participate in a number of hands-on activities, so please ensure that your children are dressed in comfortable, play and craft-appropriate clothing.

If your child is ill, please plan to attend the centre another day.  If your child becomes ill during program hours, you will be asked to take the child home.
