Community Events Volunteer
Role Summary
Community Event Volunteers support Maple Ridge Pitt Meadows Community Services at community events by helping create a welcoming, organized, and engaging booth presence. Volunteers assist with event set-up and take-down, greet attendees, share general information about the organization, and direct questions to staff when needed. This role helps increase community awareness, connection, and support for our programs and services.
Objective
To represent MRPMCS in a positive, inclusive and professional way at community events, support outreach efforts, and help ensure booths and displays are welcoming, informative, and well organized.
Duties and Responsibilities
– Assist with booth set-up, including tents, tables, signage, displays, and promotional materials
– Help ensure booth materials are organized, stocked, and presented neatly throughout the event
– Welcome and engage attendees in a friendly and approachable manner
– Share basic information about Community Services, including programs, volunteer opportunities, and donation options
– Encourage community members to stop by the booth and learn more about the organization
– Refer detailed or program-specific questions to MRPMCS staff when needed
– Support booth take-down at the end of the event
– Review event checklists and help ensure supplies are accounted for before and after events
Qualities and Skills
– Friendly, positive, and professional manner
– Comfortable speaking with members of the public
– Reliable and able to follow directions
– Organized and attentive to detail
– Able to work as part of a team
– Comfortable standing for periods of time and assisting with light event set-up and take-down
Support Provided
Volunteers will typically work alongside a Community Services staff member, who will provide guidance and support during the event and respond to more complex questions.
Additional Notes
– At least one person should remain at the booth at all times
– Volunteers are responsible for bringing personal items they may need, such as water or snacks
– Volunteers should wear Community Services identification, such as a lanyard or MRPMCS pin
– Personal safety should always come first in the event of an emergency; staff should be notified as soon as it is safe to do so

Volunteer Application FormThe Better at Home Program provides non-medical support to seniors to enable them to live independently in their homes and community for as long as possible. Our Better at Home Program is looking for Volunteer Drivers to provide transportation for seniors to medical appointments and shopping trips (reimbursement for mileage provided).
Volunteers are also needed to provide yard work and handyperson services at an honorarium of $18 per hour. Please help our local seniors receive the help they need to live in a safe and supported environment.

Alisa’s Wish Child & Youth Advocacy Centre Ambassadors are passionate community minded volunteers who will assist the Development Team to maximize our reach in the Community, increase fundraising awareness and build the individual, monthly, foundation, grant, organization and corporate donor database.
Ambassadors are asked to contribute in a way you are able. Perhaps you can make connections or introductions to the Development Team, host a fundraiser in your home, join networking events or prospect meetings, share fundraising ideas or volunteer. It can be as simple as having your name on a list to show the credibility of Alisa’s Wish to potential donors.
