Community-Based Victim Services Program
Enabling
individuals and families to realize their potential and achieve a level of
self-reliance
The Community-Based Victim Services Program provides information, community
referrals, emotional, practical and court support to victims and their
families.

 | Provide courtroom tour and orientation |
 | Preliminary inquiry and trial accompaniment |

 | Safety and wellness plans |
 | Education on the impact of societal roles and power imbalances |
 | Attend community speaking events |
 | Provide services within agency limitations |
Emotional Support
 | Someone to talk to |
 | Reduction of emotional trauma |
 | Information on abuse and trauma |
 | Develop safety plans |
 | Provide and refer to educational materials |

Who Is Eligible
Victims, immediate family members and witnesses of all ages, cultural
groups who have experienced any of the following crimes of violence:
 | Physical abuse |
 | Sexual abuse |
 | Rape |
 | Spousal assault |
 | Criminal harassment |
 | Hate crimes |
 | Other forms of violence |
Those eligible for support must either reside in Maple Ridge or Pitt
Meadows or the offense must have arisen in one of these communities.
How To Access Services
 | Self-referrals and referrals from other sources |
 | Appointments with the victim, immediate family member(s), witnesses,
friends and supporters |
Cost
This program is offered free of charge.

 | A commitment to seek necessary supports during your journey |
 | A recognition that it takes a community to raise a child |
We have zero tolerance for violence. To ensure safety for everyone,
services will be terminated under the following circumstances:
 | Abusive or violent behaviour |
 | Attendance while under the influence of drugs or alcohol |
 | Length of service determined by client need |

Funding
The Provincial Government of British Columbia has funded the Specialized
Victim Assistance Program since 1987 and it is currently funded by the
Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General.
