Volunteer
opportunities for adults with developmental disabilities provide a way of connecting with
people and the community, leading towards greater independence and
self-reliance
What Service is Available?
The key focus of this program is to assist adults with developmental
disabilities and
integrate them more fully into our community by way of a volunteer position
in a non-profit agency.
Program Eligibility
 | All participants in the Supported Volunteer Program must be
referred by the Ministry of Children and Family Development |
 | All participants must be 19 years of age or older |
 | Everyone has the right to refuse service |
 | All participants must reside within the boundaries of Maple Ridge and
Pitt Meadows |
 | Inability to perform assigned duties could result in end of service |
Potential clients must have the ability to:
 | Function independently or with the aid of a support person |
 | Carry out assigned tasks |
 | Follow schedules |
 | Keep appointments |

Funding
The B.C. Government has funded the Supported Volunteer Program since
1989. The Ministry of Children and Family Development currently
provides the funding for services available within this program.
