Seniors Outreach

The Seniors Outreach Program is designed to enable seniors to function at their optimum level and maintain their independence as long as possible

The Seniors Outreach Program assists geographically and socially isolated seniors to become more independent, thus allowing them to remain in their own homes as long as possible.

Eligibility

To qualify for service you must:
bulletReside in the Maple Ridge or Pitt Meadows area
bulletBe 55 years or older
bulletBe able to get in and out of the volunteer's vehicle with limited assistance

Program Expectations

Be able to pay an honorarium to the driver

All participants have the right to refuse service

Information and Referral

Information on seniors community resources are readily accessible by calling the Seniors Outreach Program.

Visiting Program

The Visiting Program is designed to provide isolated, homebound and lonely seniors with a regular visit by a carefully matched and screened volunteer.

"Hello" Program

The "Hello" Service is available to isolated, homebound and lonely seniors who can benefit from weekly phone contact by a screened telephone volunteer.

Driver Program

The Driver Program is tailored to meet the needs of seniors who are living in their own homes that require transportation to appointments.

Shopping Program

The Shopping Program offers a grocery shopping program to seniors in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows who are:
bulletUnable to shop on their own
bulletUnable to get out of their home to shop due to disability or health

Program Cost

bulletThere is no cost for the Volunteer Visiting Program or the "Hello" Service
bulletAn honorarium rate is paid to the volunteer for the Driver Program (this rate depends on the travel distance) and the Shopping Program
bulletParking fees (if applicable) are the responsibility of the senior

Funding

Seniors Outreach was started in 1987 and was funded by the local Kinsmen and the Federal Seniors Independent Program.  Our funding is now received from the Fraser Health Authority.  We also rely on fundraising and tax-deductible, charitable donations from our supportive business community.
