Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows Community Services’ Better at Home Program assists senior citizens in our community to maintain independence and enables them to remain in their own homes for as long as possible. The Better at Home program provides non-medical home supports including, transportation to medical appointments (local and long-distance), grocery shopping and delivery, friendly visits, light housekeeping and handyperson services to help maintain a safe and independent home environment.

We are currently recruiting a part-time Housekeeper to join our Better at Home team!

This position will consist of general housekeeping duties will be performed in seniors’ homes, such as dusting, vacuuming, laundry, dishes, floors, etc., along with other duties requested and approved by the supervisor.

Education, Training and Experience

  • Grade 10, along with a minimum of six months related experience.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Criminal Record Check is required;
  • Current First Aid and CPR
  • Valid and unrestricted Class 5 BC Driver’s License with access to a safe, reliable vehicle;

In the role of Director, Programs & Practice, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the organizations missions and goals by contributing to strategic planning efforts and program management. By collaborating with various stakeholders, both internal and external, you will work to ensure effective program coordination and integration. Overall, your leadership, organizational skills, and ability to collaborate will be essential in advancing the organization’s objectives and making a positive impact in the community.

You will be responsible for ensuring that program practice standards are aligned with organizational goals and industry best practices. Your role, in collaboration with Program Managers will involve conducting regular assessments of program practices, identifying areas for improvement, and developing and implementing improvement initiatives to enhance program effectiveness and efficiency. You will take the lead on collecting and analyzing data on program outcomes and performance indicators, communicating assessment findings and improvement recommendations to stakeholders, participating in quality assurance processes, and staying informed about emerging trends and best practices in program management to incorporate relevant innovations into program practice standards.

Your leadership and expertise in evaluation methodologies and your ability to translate data into actionable insights will be essential in enhancing program effectiveness and driving positive outcomes and driving continuous improvement in order to ensure the delivery of high-quality programs that are aligned with organizational objectives.

You will oversee and work with Program Managers on all aspects of program contracts, from negotiation to compliance. You ensure adherence to contractual terms, monitor budgets, track timelines, and manage deliverables to ensure timely completion. Mitigating risks associated with contracts and maintaining positive stakeholder relationships are key priorities. Regular reporting on contract progress and addressing any issues or disputes promptly are part of your responsibilities.

As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will exemplify the Agency’s core values of Community, Compassion, Excellence, Growth, and Respect while fostering teamwork, collaboration, and open communication among staff members. You will support individual staff strengths and initiative while cultivating collaborative relationships with community organizations and maintaining clear communication within your role. Collaborating with the Senior Leadership Team, you will balance program priorities with agency-wide objectives, and work closely with the Executive Director and Program Managers to implement strategic and organizational planning initiatives.

Qualifications for this position include, but are not limited to:

  • An advanced degree in social work or a related human service field from an accredited institution, plus two years of post-master’s degree experience in family and children’s services; OR
  • A bachelor’s degree in a comparable human services field, plus five years of direct experience in service delivery
  • Minimum of five years of experience in a managerial position within a Social Services organization
  • Formal training in family systems, mental health, addictions, recovery, anti-violence work and advocacy, supportive intervention work with families, service planning, behavioral strategies, and communication strategies
  • Formal training in client and program outcomes, measurement, and evaluation

SENIORS COORDINATOR - SENIORS NETWORK SOCIETY

Contract Opportunity – Coordinator
The Seniors Network Society of Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows has a contract job opening for a part-time Coordinator. The successful candidate will be passionate about strengthening programs and services for seniors by engaging and empowering older adults to take a leadership role in the community.
The coordinator reports directly to the Board of Directors and is responsible for the overall oversight, leadership, direction, and operation of all initiatives within the portfolio.

Overview
The Seniors Network is a community-based, registered society that has been facilitating a collaborative community response to seniors issues since 2008. The Seniors Network is composed of older adult community members and representatives of service providers, government agencies, non-profit organizations, businesses, and service clubs that are involved in and care about seniors residing in these communities.

Key Deliverables & Responsibilities
• The coordinator shall organize the bi-monthly meetings of the Seniors Network including sending out meeting notices, agendas, and minutes to the members.
• Develop with the Board of Directors initiatives to support the strategic direction of the Society.
• Coordinate Board Meetings and complete annual BC Societies reporting and annual reporting to core funders.
• Recruit and onboard new volunteers and support their participation in the Network.
• Support the Network’s Task Groups to discuss and prioritize activities and support the follow through of action.
• Establish new links and strengthen existing partnerships with community groups, agencies, individuals, city councils and government agencies.
• Maintain accurate program budgets and collaborate with the Treasurer and accountant to ensure operations within budgetary constraints.
• Identify additional sources of financial support for Seniors Network initiatives and write grant proposals.
• Develop promotional, public education and media relations materials as needed.
• Produce a monthly calendar of events and annual Seniors Resource Directory for publication.
• Oversee and support part-time contractor and Intergenerational Garden project.

Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities:
• Graduation from a post-secondary program in social sciences, communications, community development, gerontology or equivalent.
• Exceptional leadership and facilitation skills, along with a proven ability to work with community committees and support a Board of Directors.
• Knowledge of relevant community resources, service providers and networks within Maple Ridge, Pitt Meadows and Katzie First Nation as well as city-wide senior serving organizations.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Demonstrated coordination/administrative skills including creating agendas, minutes, arranging guest speakers.
• Knowledge and proven success in grant and report writing, and evaluation of projects is essential.
• Strong communication skills including writing, public speaking, presentations, social media management, and basic website maintenance.
• Strong computer knowledge and experience including Windows, Office: Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Canva or another graphic design program.

Job Status: This is a contract position, part-time, approximately 25-30 hours per week, paid at $30 per hour, plus mileage allowance.

Work Schedule: To be worked out with the Board of Directors. Days and hours are flexible, except for the Seniors Network meeting times which are fixed and usually occur every second month on the last Wednesday of the month.

Contract amount: This contract is for $42,000 per year, renewable after one year.

SEX ASSAULT NAVIGATOR (Regular Part-time)

Sexual Assault Response Program

The Sexual Assault Response Program is an initiative in Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows that provides free coordinated services for survivors of sexual assault who are 13 years and older, inclusive of all genders and available to all residents of Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows. The Sexual Assault Navigator will be accountable for community education and information dissemination about the Sexual Assault Response Program. This position requires flexibility in scheduling and the ability to work evenings and weekends.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

Crisis Response

Providing crisis response to clients within 72 hours of a sexual assault. This response may include, as appropriate:

  • responding to hospital call-outs;
  • providing emotional support;
  • identifying and addressing the immediate emotional, safety, and logistical needs of the client;
  • acting as a connector between the client, emergency personnel, hospital personnel, and other victim support programs.

Information and Support

  • By using a trauma-informed, client centered and as needed, culturally appropriate approach, supporting the emotional and practical needs of clients, and as appropriate, members of their family or support network, to assist clients in addressing the impacts of sexual assault and trauma
  • Supporting clients, as needed, in accessing other resources and assistance in the community to address the immediate and post-incident impacts of sexual assault and trauma, including by:
  • providing information and assistance in navigating health and justice sector services (including hospital accompaniment and transportation, as needed);
  • providing information regarding next steps or actions to be undertaken by the police if the incident was reported;
  • providing information about how to obtain independent legal advice/ information to support a client in determining the client’s options;
  • providing or assisting with accessing transportation services including, but not limited to hospital, court, police, transition house, and/or shelters;
  • providing or facilitating other types of practical support and assistance as appropriate;
  • assisting with filling out forms including the Crime Victim Assistance Program application, Victim Impact Statement, and Victim Notification Registration; (vii) assisting when speaking with and engaging with justice system personnel including police and Crown counsel;
  • providing support for and information about the criminal court process;
  • providing other justice system information and support, including going to court with the client.

Safety Planning

The Sexual Assault Navigator will, as needed, develop a written Safety Plan or checklist with the client to manage safety and reduce the risk of further victimization. This work with the client may include:

  • Assessing, identifying, and addressing the client’s immediate and emergency physical and emotional safety needs;
  • Developing and updating safety plans with clients and coordinating with the community and with criminal justice system partners;
  • Providing to client’s general safety, wellness planning and crime prevention information and referrals to community resources.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Training and Experience

  • Minimum of a two-year diploma or equivalent education in the human services field, along with a minimum of one year of related experience working with, and presenting to, victim populations such as youth/children’s services.

 Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Familiarity with the communities of Maple Ridge, Pitt Meadows, Katzie First Nations, Kwantlen First Nations, along with local community resources;

  • Knowledge of the criminal justice system, child welfare matters and victim services support issues;
  • Strong community development perspective;
  • Strong research skills accompanied by the ability to interpret data;
  • Excellent facilitation skills and the ability/desire to engage others in dialogue;
  • Experience working with committees;
  • Excellent communication skills, including writing skills and the ability to easily begin conversations;
  • Ability to work independently;
  • Excellent computer and technical skills;
  • Ability to be flexible in terms of schedule, including evenings and weekends.

Starting hourly rate: $28.32 per hour
