Licensed or License-not-required?

In British Columbia, there are two basic child care categories: licensed and license-no-required (LNR), also known as informal child care.

Whether or not a child care program needs a license depends primarily on how many children a care provider is looking after. BC law says that care providers who look after more than two children, not related to them, must have a license.

All Licensed child care providers must comply with the Community Care And Assisted Living Act, Child Care Licensing Regulations. Please refer to the Act for more information, http://www.qp.gov.bc.ca/statreg/stat/C/02075_01.htm
